aaron brought the kite out at sunset; with great effort he got it in the air
the streamers rippled in the orange light, your hands ran through my hair
and i’d remember that tender touch in the months ahead
a tiny little moment that was ours

i think about montana when i close my eyes; i think about the fargo county fair
i think about the rhythms you tapped out on my thighs…you weren’t even aware
sometimes i drive out to the lake and i think about the kite
