about

written: 4/30/13
note: i know the lyrics here don't exactly match the ones in the song, this is an early version that i recorded right after i wrote it and i hadn't quite worked through the kinks yet — i even forget my original lyrics a few times (despite having them written out and sitting in front of me while recording) and improvise lyrics that end up making the final cut. the lyrics here are the final ones in the version that i play when i play it live. unfortunately the way the timing wouldn't on this i didn't have a chance to record a new version until september and i didn't want to wait that long to release this song. plus it is a pain in the ass to get my guitar back into this tuning so i didn't even make an attempt to re-record it after i went on summer vacation. bear with me: from writing to recording, this song took about an hour to produce.

lyrics

shifting weather patterns overhead
bring in cold air from the north
along with his late-model
dark blue chevy impala
he frequents waffle house
and banters with the line cooks
as he reads through his notes about the girl
who went missing back in 2009
and that's how he passes his time

and his brown hair is so beautiful
and his blue eyes are so beautiful

he was born in the 70s [sic, i refuse to write "70's"]
and he says he likes punk rock
he likes to ride his bike
but he doesn't get the chance to do that a lot
and on nights when the sun sets just right
like a bubblegum popsicle melting in the sky
he drives his car to the lake
and sits to watch the world turn
and that's how he passes his time

and his brown hair is so beautiful
and his blue eyes are so beautiful
and his long dark overcoat is so beautiful
and the scar above his eyebrow is so beautiful
and the way he stacks his papers
in the backseat of his car is so beautiful
and his brown hair is so beautiful
and his blue eyes are so beautiful
